LIMA, June 1 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Executive Branch has authorized the entry into the national territory of military personnel from the United States, with the purpose of carrying out training cooperation activities with the Peruvian National Police and Armed Forces from June 1 to Dec 31, 2023.
Via Legislative Resolution No. 31758, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Wednesday, it specified that special operations activities will be carried out with the Intelligence and Joint Special Operations Command (CIOEC).
Similarly, these include the Joint Special Forces (FEC), the Peruvian Navy Special Operations Forces (FOE), the Peruvian Air Force Special Forces Group (GRUFE), the Peruvian National Police Anti-Drug Directorate (DIRANDRO) or the Peruvian National Police Special Forces Directorate (DIROES).
The training sessions will take place in Lima, Callao, Loreto, San Martín, Santa Lucía, Huánuco, Ucayali, Pasco, Junín, Huancavelica, Cusco, Ayacucho, Iquitos, Pucusana, and Apurimac regions.
U.S. military personnel will be authorized to enter Peru with weapons of war, for the purposes set forth in this resolution.
Via Legislative Resolution No. 31757, the Peruvian Government authorized the entry of air resources, nautical resources, and military personnel from the United States, with the purpose of carrying out training cooperation activities with the Armed Forces, associated with the Resolute Sentinel 2023 international military exercise.
The entry of foreign military personnel will be on different dates, but in no case will it exceed the deadline of August 29, 2023, to withdraw from the territory of the Republic of Peru.
Both resolutions were signed by President Dina Boluarte, Interior Minister Vicente Romero —who was in charge of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers’ office— and Congress Chairman Jose Williams. — NNN-ANDINA
