BRASILIA, May 30 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has arrived in Brazil to participate in the Meeting of South American Presidents.
According to a statement posted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on Twitter, the Peruvian delegation arrived on Sunday night.
Otarola chairs the high-level commission together with Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi, who will participate in the activities on behalf of Pres Dina Boluarte.
On Sunday, the Executive Branch authorized the trip of the Cabinet chief to the city of Brasilia, in the Federative Republic of Brazil, from May 28 to 31 this year, to attend the Meeting of South American Presidents.
The head of the Ministerial Cabinet will hold bilateral meetings with authorities from Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay, in order to address issues of common interest, which will take place on May 29 and 30 in the city of Brasilia.
Otarola in a meeting with Brazil’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, said that there is a democratic atmosphere within the Government of the Constitutional President Dina Boluarte.
“She is looking for a legal formula to leave the country to personally promote foreign policy,” he explained.
The Cabinet chief expressed to the Brazilian authority the President Boluarte’s desire to attend the Belém do Pará Convention to strengthen and make visible the fight of the Peruvian Government against violence against women —a problem that hits the region.
Earlier he met with Brazil’s Environment and Climate Change Minister Marina Silva, to whom he extended greetings and respect from President Dina Boluarte, whom he represents.
“With great commitment, our Ministry of the Environment is working very closely with native peoples. We have a very clear vision in Peru, that is to consolidate a global South America through the Amazon,” he remarked.
