YANGON, May 26 (NNN-MNA) – The Myanmar authorities seized 68.25 kg of heroin in Shan state of eastern Myanmar, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), yesterday.
Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police searched two vehicles near a checkpoint in Yaksawk town of southern Shan state on Monday, and confiscated 195 blocks of heroin weighing 68.25 kg, the statement said.
Three suspects were arrested for the case, it said.
According to investigations, the narcotics was being transported from Mongyai town in northern Shan state to Pekon town in southern Shan state, the CCDAC said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.– NNN-MNA
