LIMA, May 22 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Ministry of Interior (Mininter), through the Special Project for Control and Reduction of Illegal Crops in Alto Huallaga (Corah) —with the support of the Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro) of the National Police of Peru (PNP)— has destroyed 4,281.46 hectares of illegal coca plantations so far this year.

Operations included the intervention of 2,404 plots, the elimination of 28 square meters of seedlings, as well as the location and destruction of a clandestine cocaine production laboratory.

According to the latest Corah report, the eradication of coca plantations prevented the production of 40 tons of drugs.

It should be noted that the destruction of illegal coca leaf plantations began in the axis of Santa Lucia (San Martin region), which includes Tocache and Polvora.

In both areas, a total of 147.60 hectares of crops have been eradicated.

In addition to these interventions, the Corah special project staff continue to destroy illegal crops in the operational axis of Constitucion (Pasco region).

It must be noted that these operations are conducted as part of the “Annual Plan for Reduction of Illegal Coca Growing Area: Promoting Environmental and Social Sustainability in Peru 2023,” approved by the Interior sector, within the framework of the National Policy against Drugs to 2030.” — NNN-ANDINA
