DHAKA, May 21 (NNN-BSS) – Experts here yesterday said, there is no scientific evidence of the electromagnetic field emissions from cellphone towers causing adverse effects.
The opinion came up in a roundtable, organised by Telecom and Technology Reporters Network Bangladesh, with Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Shyam Sunder Sikder, being the chief guest, and senior officials and telecom vendors participated in the discussion besides government policymakers.
Mentioning some people have fictitious fear that mobile towers cause various diseases, like cancer, experts stressed the need for more awareness-building efforts, to brush aside such misconceptions, in order to help the expansion of the telecom network.
According to experts, mobile phones, mobile towers, and routers are non-ionised. Therefore, there is nothing harmful in them.– NNN-BSS
