Initiation of Anti-Dumping Investigation Concerning Imports of Steel Concrete Reinforcing Bar Originating In or Exported By the Republic Of Singapore and Republic Of Turkey

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) — On 29 March 2019, the Government of Malaysia received a petition from the Malaysia Steel Association (representing domestic producers of steel reinforcing bar (rebar)) requesting for an anti-dumping investigation on imports of rebar, that are hot rolled steel bars containing indentations, ribs, grooves or other deformation. The Petitioner alleged that imports of rebar originating in, or exported from, the Republic of Singapore and Republic of Turkey are being dumped into Malaysia at a price much lower than their domestic price.

The Petitioner claimed that dumped imports of rebar from the alleged countries have increased in terms of absolute quantity and have caused material injury to them. The Government has considered the prima facie evidence of dumping, injury and causal link and decided to initiate the anti-dumping investigation on imports of rebar from the alleged countries.
