Myanmar Earned 384 Million USD From Garment Exports In Apr

YANGON, May 10 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar earned 384 million U.S. dollars, from the exports of garments, manufactured under the cut-make-pack (CMP) system, in Apr this year, the state media, citing the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association, reported yesterday.

The country exported garments worth 200 million dollars through land borders, while it shipped the goods worth 184 million dollars via sea routes, the report said.

Myanmar exported the garment to China, Thailand and European countries, it said.

The investment in Myanmar’s CMP garment sector comes from China, Thailand, South Korea and Japan. China is the largest foreign investor in Myanmar’s garment sector, it said.

Myanmar has more than 700 factories manufacturing bags, sports suits, sports shoes and socks. Of them, 505 are garment factories and 48 are footwear factories, it said.

Myanmar’s garment industry created more than 100,000 job opportunities for the local people.

Myanmar earned more than 1.5 billion U.S. dollars from the exports of CMP garments, during the 2022-23 fiscal year, official figures showed.– NNN-MNA
