TEHRAN, May 4 (NNN-SPA) – A Saudi trade delegation will attend the 5th Export Potential Exhibition of Iran (Iran Expo 2023), which will be held in the Iranian capital of Tehran on May 7-10, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Mehdi Safari, confirmed.
Preparations have been made for the Saudi delegation’s visit to the exhibition, Iranian Students’ News Agency quoted Safari as saying, during a press conference yesterday.
Companies from 60 countries have shown interest in attending the exhibition, he said, adding, 750 Iranian companies have announced their readiness to take part in the event.
Last week, Gholamhossein Shafei, chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), called for the swift revival of the economic and trade ties between Tehran and Riyadh.
Gholamhossein Shafei highlighted the issue in an official letter to Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), Hasan Al-Huwaizi, on Apr 27, according to a statement published on the ICCIMA’s website.
Iran and Saudi Arabia reached a deal in Mar, to resume diplomatic relations and reopen embassies and missions in the two countries within two months.
In a meeting held in Beijing on Apr 6, Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, signed a joint statement, announcing the resumption of diplomatic relations with immediate effect.
Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016, in response to the attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran, after the kingdom executed a Shiite cleric.– NNN-SPA
