LIMA, May 3 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru’s Pres Dina Boluarte affirmed that the Government will work hard and engage in a frontal fight against citizen insecurity, which is one of the main problems facing citizens.

“Another issue that we have to face is citizen insecurity so that you, girls, boys, women, youth, all of us, can mobilize and so that any criminal on the street does not attack us,”she said during a meeting with Glass of Milk Program leaders.

Furthermore, the Head of State stressed that the economy is being managed very responsibly, which makes it possible to address and allocate resources for social programs, as well as for infrastructure and sanitation projects, despite the international crisis, the domestic political crisis, and natural disasters.

In the same way that crime will be faced, the top official affirmed that her administration will fight against corruption, which is the other scourge and the other cancer that undermines people’s hope.”

“I am not a thief, and I will never be one, because the values that my parents passed on to me are something that I (inherited) since an early age and are running through my veins,” Boluarte expressed.

“So, rest assured that this countrywoman, like most of you, will continue working with the head held high and hands clean; and we are going to govern for the sake of all Peruvians,” she emphasized.

During her speech, President Boluarte took the opportunity to pay tribute to Lima’s former Mayor Alfonso Barrantes Lingan, creator of the Glass of Milk Program.

Boluarte met with Vaso de Leche (Glass of Milk Program) leaders on the occasion of the approval of an allocation worth S/100 million (about US$26.89 million) in favor of local governments for said social program.

The Glass of Milk Program (PVL) is a social program created to offer a daily ration of food to a population deemed as vulnerable. The program aims to help its members overcome food insecurity which affects them.

The actions of this program, carried out with the strong participation of community members, have the ultimate goal of raising their nutritional level, thus contributing to improving the quality of life of said group that, given its precarious economic situation, would not be able to meet basic needs. — NNN-ANDINA
