TASHKENT, April 26 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Trade between Russia and Central Asia increased by 15 percent in 2022, exceeding 42 billion dollars, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov reported.
The Central Asian nations (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) occupy a leading position in cooperation with Russia in the fields of import substitution and technological sovereignty, Manturov said at the Innoprom Fair in the capital of Uzbekistan.
Trade relations are actively developing between the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), he noted.
Founded in 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is currently made up of eight member States: China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Four countries (Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia) participate as observers, and six nations (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Türkiye) have the status of dialogue partners.
