Afghanistan’s Central Bank Sold 15 Million USD To Keep Local Currency Stable

KABUL, Apr 16 (NNN-ANA) – The Afghan central bank sold 15 million U.S. dollars via auction, yesterday, in a bid to keep the national currency, afghani, stable against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) said in a statement.

The afghani was tumbling against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar, over the past couple of months. The exchange rate for one U.S. dollar stands currently at 86.5 afghanis, compared to 85 afghanis last week.

The DAB has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the money exchange market over the past couple of months, in efforts to prevent the fall of afghani against foreign currencies.– NNN-ANA
