Peru: Exports of non-traditional goods up 9.3% to US$3.165 billion

LIMA, April 15 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian exports of non-traditional goods posted a significant growth of 9.3% in the first two months of 2023, compared to the same period last year, according to the latest report issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

Shipments in this segment amounted to US$3.165 billion, which was attributed to a significant increase in exports of non-metallic mining (83.4%), fishing (22.4%), farming (12.3%), metal mechanical (11.3%) and textile (7%) products.
In total, non-traditional agricultural exports totaled US$1.577 billion at the end of February. 

Grapes became the most exported agricultural product in Peru, with sales amounting to US$637 million at the end of February (23.9%).

On the other hand, blueberry exports increased 18.7% compared to the first two months in 2022, reaching US$136 million.

Avocado sales have turned back to growth totaling US$47 million (34.4%), and shipment of asparagus amounted to US$66 million (19.6%).

Similarly, it should be noted that exports of cacao and derivatives totaled US$54 million, up 51.7% over the previous year.

The sector that stood out the most in the first two months of 2023 was non-metallic mining, whose exports totaled US$176 million. — NNN-ANDINA
