LIMA, April 13 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte on Wednesday affirmed that the violence against women must be rejected head-on through the Ministry of Women and called on the Public Ministry, as well as the Judiciary, to punish severely —within their independence— those responsible for murders of women.
“The Executive Branch will not stop creating programs to support families and bereaved relatives, so that we can express sympathy to those in such tremendous pain,” Boluarte remarked.
“In addition, we will surely introduce legislative initiatives so that prison terms can be extended for these people who kill girls and women in the country,” she added.
The Head of State also referred to the strike announced some authorities in the north of the country.
In this regard, she noted that this measure is not the solution to the problems and cited the experience of southern Peru as an example.
“Stopping is not the remedy, it is not the solution, but it would make things worse. I call for dialogue, for concertation, on all of us to unite in order to get our sisters and brothers in the north out of this climate crisis, which is affecting all over country,” she exhorted.
The dignitary mentioned that 500 tons of humanitarian aid were sent to Piura on Tuesday and that another 500 tons will be sent immediately, as soon as the distribution is over, through regional governments and local governments, as was offered.
The country’s top official emphasized that more money is being injected into the regions affected by rains and floods through cash-transfers by the Ministry of Economy in order to directly attend to the needs of the victims. — NNN-ANDINA
