ULAN BATOR, Apr 13 (NNN-XINHUA) – More than 3,000 head of livestock have been killed, in a steppe fire in the eastern Mongolian province of Dornod, local media reported yesterday, citing the provincial governor’s office.
The steppe fire broke out on Saturday, in the Erdenetsagaan district of Sukhbaatar Province, due to people’s negligence, and spread to neighbouring Dornod, said the country’s National Emergency Management Agency, adding, the fire was brought under control early on Tuesday.
A total of 15 families lost their homes in the steppe fire in the two provinces.
So far this year, 25 steppe and forest fires have been registered across Mongolia, mainly due to people’s negligence, according to the emergency agency.– NNN-XINHUA
