HAVANA, April 9 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Representatives of Cuba and Angola signed two memorandums of understanding and the minutes of the fifteenth session of the intergovernmental Commission for economic and scientific-technical cooperation between both countries.

Cuban Vice Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and the Minister of State and head of the civil house of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola, Adao Francisco Correa de Almeida, signed the act, which concluded the meetings where they addressed issues related to key sectors of the collaboration between both nations.

We are sure that this is a step that will push us forward in relations, to live up to our common history, said Correa de Almeida when assessing the debates between the delegations of the two countries, which began the day before.

The Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Custódio Vieira, and the president of the island’s Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), Osvaldo Vento, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Angola and the Inder.

Meanwhile, the secretary for Higher Education of the African nation, Eugénio Alves, and the Cuban Vice Minister of Higher Education Reynaldo Velázquez, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Angolan Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, in the areas of higher education, science, technology and innovation.

In this session we had interesting and fruitful exchanges between the delegations, which contribute to the common objectives of strengthening relations, Cabrisas said about the joint meeting.

In his words at the end of the meeting, he also ratified the priority that the Caribbean nation gives to political, economic, commercial, financial, scientific-technical, cultural, friendship and solidarity relations between both countries.

“It will be our task to encourage us to continue working together and systematically to advance in the direction that we propose, and to look for creative formulas that allow us to further increase our bilateral trade and continue raising economic ties to contribute to development,” he added.

The minister of State and head of the civil house of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola, for his part, reiterated the commitment to the signed agreements, and to renew and reinforce the levels of cooperation, so that the two countries are ever closer.

“Cuba will work with dedication and care,” Cabrisas assured, remarking that the African nation will always have a faithful and sincere friend in the island. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
