HAVANA, April 6 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Medical supplies – worth .3 million – for preserving vaccines in Cuba make up a donation to Cuba’s health system arriving from CANADA.
Over 300 specialized fridges for storing and preserving vaccines, thermos flasks for vaccine transfer, temperature monitors, freezers and freezing indicators, among others, are among the Canadian batch certified by the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).
The PAHO/WHO Representative José Moya explained the donation helps to enhance Public Health Ministry´s cold chain network, which continues to hold a strong domestic immunization program.
Cuba’s Immunization Program Chief Lena López detailed the new medical supply will also allow for better storage capacity and compliance with preservation standards by guaranteeing greater quality and control for the vaccine cold chain process.
Meanwhile, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Wednesday thanked PARAGUAY for sending a seven-ton medicine and supply donation.
On Twitter, the Cuban minister extended to Foreign Minister Julio Cesar Arriola and Public Health and Social Welfare Ministry his gratitude.
Cuba´s Director-General of Latin America and the Caribbean Department at the Foreign Ministry (MINREX) Eugenio Martínez said Cuba and Paraguay have always enjoyed reciprocal sympathy, while acknowledging Cuba´s contribution in training Paraguayan health specialists.
This donation marks Paraguay´s extended collaboration to Cuba ahead of present situation Cuban people is going through to access to medicines and medical supplies. It´s an international solidarity that strengthens friendship relations between both nations. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
