ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan will celebrate the golden jubilee of its constitution with national zeal and fervour, Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, said.
Talking to the media here yesterday, Ashraf said, the building where the then National Assembly met and passed the constitution in 1973, will be declared a national asset by the government.
He said, the joint session of parliament will also be held in the same building on Apr 10, to commemorate the historic event of the passing of the constitution.
A monument will be constructed to depict the parliamentary and constitutional history of Pakistan in Islamabad, he added.
As part of the celebration, a three-day international convention will be convened in Islamabad, and Pakistani-origin parliamentarians across the world have been invited to attend the event, he said.
Pakistan’s constitution was approved by its National Assembly on Apr 10, 1973, and was ratified on Aug 14, 1973.– NNN-APP
