PUTRAJAYA, April 23 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Islamic Da’wah Foundation of Malaysia (Yadim) has called on all Malaysians to take lessons from the recent bombing incidents in Sri Lanka on Saturday, and understand the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the country.
Yadim president Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz in a statement today said violent attacks, whether done individually or in groups against innocent civilians should be strongly condemned by Muslims as outlined under the syariah.
“No matter what the reason may be (for the perpetrators to act), violence will always remain an inhumane act,” he said.
Nik Omar said Islam teaches its people to work together to maintain peace, harmony and happiness in society.
“The incident shows that human values are fading, and that the groups have been influenced by extremist ideologies,” he said.
At least 290 people were killed while more than 500 injured in a series of bombings targeting churches and luxury hotels in three cities in Sri Lanka on Easter Day.
No group has claimed responsibility so far.
