Cambodian King grants Malaysian PM Anwar audience

KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (NNN-Bernama) — The King of Cambodia, King Norodom Sihamoni granted Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim an audience at the Royal Palace of Cambodia as part of the prime minister’s inaugural official visit to the country.

Anwar posted on Facebook Monday night stating that he had delivered the Malaysian government’s intent to continue to strengthen bilateral relations between their countries that began 66 years ago during his audience with the King.

The prime minister also paid a courtesy call to the Cambodian Senate president Say Chhum and the National Assembly president Heng Samrin, during which they managed to exchange views.

“Even with a busy schedule, I managed to meet up with the Malaysian diaspora at an event at the Malaysian embassy in Phnom Penh and was able to present the government’s intention that togetherness and unity would be expected even while abroad,” he said.

Anwar arrived in Cambodia today for a one-day official visit to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation established in 1957.

The inaugural official visit to Cambodia was at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
