Myanmar Expects To Export Over 2.1 Million Tonnes Of Rice This Coming Fiscal Year

YANGON, Mar 22 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar expects to export more than two million tonnes of rice in the coming 2023-24 fiscal year, U Ye Min Aung, president of Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), said yesterday.

Myanmar exported over 1.28 million tonnes of rice, while its broken rice export hit more than 812,488 tonnes during the first 11 months of the fiscal year 2022-2023, from Apr last year, to the end of Feb this year, according to the MRF data.

“We’ve earned more than 900 million U.S. dollars for exporting rice this fiscal year already. We can say that, this year is also reaching our target amount of rice export of two million tonnes, and we’re targeting to export more than 2.1 million tonnes next year, to earn about one billion dollars,” U Ye Min Aung, said.

Myanmar exported its rice and broken rice to China, the Philippines, Japan, European Union countries, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, African countries and Middle East countries, according to the MRF.

According to the Myanmar Digital News, rice production and availability are almost in normal conditions nationwide. The most productive padi fields are in the Yangon Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwaddy Region and Rakhine State.– NNN-MNA
