Italian President H.E Sergio Mattarella
NAIROBI, March 14 (NNN-KBC) — Italian President Sergio Mattarella landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Monday evening ahead of his four-day official visit.
The Italian President was received by Cabinet Secretaries Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Aden Duale (Defence) and a host of senior Government officials.
According to CS Mutua, President Mattarella visit is expected to boost trade and investment opportunities between our two countries and promote the development of key sectors such as Water, Agriculture, and Tourism.
“H.E Mattarella will also hold a public lecture on climate change at the University of Nairobi,” Foreign Affairs CS Dr Alfred Mutua said.
Announcing his visit early February after meeting the Ambassador to Kenya Roberto Natali at State House, President William Ruto said the visit will enhance cooperation between the two countries.
“President Mattarella’s visit is a high point in our relationship and we are looking forward to fruitful discussions on water harvesting, distribution and irrigation.”
The President added that the people of Kenya and Italy have a long and unique relationship epitomized by Malindi which hosts many Italians”.
Ambassador Natali said the Italian government and the private sector are committed to investing in water provision and harvesting in Kenya. — NNN-KBC
