RAMALLAH, Mar 14 (NNN-WAFA) – A senior Palestinian official, yesterday said, Israel’s attempts to manage the Palestinian-Israeli conflicts, instead of ending the military occupation of the Palestinian territories, “won’t achieve security and stability.”
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman of the Palestinian presidency, told reporters that, the Israeli government’s attempts to return to the pattern of conflict management, as an alternative to ending the occupation “won’t lead to achieving peace in the region.”
His remarks came, against the background that the most right-wing government in Israel’s history was sworn in late Dec, and has introduced hardline policies towards the Palestinians.
Abu Rudeineh accused the Israeli government, headed by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, that, since it was sworn in, “it hasn’t mentioned anything related to resuming peace negotiations or reviving the stalled peace process.”
He warned against the Israeli government’s persistence to carry on with its unilateral actions and measures, mainly storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, settlement expansion and daily killings of Palestinians in the West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that, since Jan 1, the Israeli army had killed 83 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including women and children, during raids on Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps.– NNN-WAFA
