PUERTO PIZARRO (Tumbes, Peru), March 12 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte on Saturday morning started the government’s response to emergency due to heavy rains in northern Peru.
She arrived at Puerto Pizarro population center (Tumbes region), where she addressed the population indicating that machinery will soon be deployed to attend to the emergency.
“We are coming with humanitarian aid in this effort articulated with private companies, since the (Peruvian) State does not have enough machinery to attend to this situation at the national level,” she indicated.
Similarly, she announced that, as a government policy, work is being done to provide each province municipality with “a pack of machinery nationwide so that they can face this crisis situation emerged due to natural phenomena.”
Likewise, Boluarte delivered humanitarian aid to Tumbes Region Government.
During her visit to Corrales district, the President stated that the Government makes two helicopters available to transport the affected families. Besides,this region received at least 400 tons of humanitarian aid for the affected population.
Afterwards, the Head of State will travel to Piura, Lambayeque, and La Libertad regions —also in northern Peru.
Boluarte was joined by Ministers Jorge Chavez Cresta (Defense), Nelly Paredes (Agrarian Development-Irrigation), Albina Ruiz (Environment), and Julio Demartini (Development-Social Inclusion).
The delegation began in Tumbes its work of inspecting and responding to the emergency due to heavy rains in the northern area of this country.
The National Center for Estimation, Prevention and Disaster Risk Reduction (Cenepred) on Saturday warned that 592 districts in the northern coast and the highlands are at risk of becoming affected by mudslides, landslides, or other types of mass-wasting caused by heavy rains.
Indeci, through the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), continues to monitor the situation, coordinates with regional and local authorities, as well as urges keeping emergency operations centers active. — NNN-ANDINA
