LIMA, March 11 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru and Chile are sister countries committed to a common agenda of growth, progress, and well-being for the benefit of their populations, President Dina Boluarte saidduring the Chilean-Peruvian Business Council meeting.
The Head of State stressed that Peru and Chile have made progress on consolidating their political, cultural, and economic relations, which is reflected —for example— in bilateral trade that has grown over recent years to reach US$3.4 billion in 2022.
Similarly, the top official underlined the importance of integration on the Tacna-Arica border, where millions of Chileans cross into Peru every year for tourism purposes, as well as for acquiring gastronomic, textile, and health services. For their part, Peruvians travel to Chile to visit its beaches and enjoy its cultural offer.
“All these data show a growing bond between our peoples, as well as the value that, from Peru, and from this Government, we attach to the integration process and our bilateral relationship as sister countries with Chile,” she emphasized.
In her speech, the President affirmed that she leads a democratic government committed to institutionalism and the rule of law.
Boluarte added that she bets on dialogue, peace, and consensus along with her firm commitment to economic reactivation.
Therefore, she recalled, a set of measures has been implemented in the social, financial, and productive spheres through the Con Punche Peru Plan, which will reach out to regions with public works, actions, plus investments in health, education, potable water, and infrastructure.
At the end of her presentation, the Head of State called on the Chilean-Peruvian Business Council to continue working for integration and development so as to close the remaining gaps and build a future of progress and well-being for both countries.
The event also saw the participation of Ministers Ana Cecilia Gervasi (Foreign Affairs) and Luis Helguero (Foreign Trade-Tourism); the head of the Peruvian Chapter, Guillermo Ferreyros, and of the Chilean Chapter, Juan Errazuriz; National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) Chairman Alfonso Bustamante; as well as other members of said council. — NNN-ANDINA
