Seven Killed, 30 Injured In Vehicle Collision In India

NEW DELHI, India, April 21 (NNN-PTI) – At least seven people were killed and 30 others injured Sunday, when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow expressway in Mainpuri district, 256 km west of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

“Early today in a road accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway, under Karhal police station here, a speedy private bus rammed into a goods truck killing seven people and injuring 30 others,” a police official posted in Mainpuri district said. “The deceased include the bus driver.”

The injured were admitted to the government hospital in Saifai town.

According to police, the bus was going to Varanasi from New Delhi.

Police officials said, they faced great difficulty in pulling out the bodies from the mangled front portion of the bus.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident took place when the bus overtook a vehicle and collided head-on with the goods truck coming from the opposite direction.– NNN-PTI
