TASHKENT, Mar 9 (NNN-UzA) – Uzbekistan has been making efforts to give women proper education, along with improving their living and working conditions, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said.
“The merit of mothers in educating all mankind is invaluable,” Mirziyoyev said, in a speech, ahead of the International Women’s Day, quoting the famous Uzbek educator, Abdurauf Fitrat.
He noted that, when a girl gets higher education and gets a modern profession, “the atmosphere in her family becomes completely different.”
Therefore, the country has been making every effort to expand women’s access to higher education. Six years ago, about 110,000 girls studied at universities, now the number has reached about 500,000, according to Mirziyoyev.
Women have a special place in all spheres of society in the country, the president said, adding that, at present, women make up 77 percent of those employed in the healthcare sector, 74 percent in education, and 46 percent in the economic and industrial sectors.– NNN-UzA
