Teen Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Teacher In School Near Tokyo

TOKYO, Mar 2 (NNN-NHK) – Japanese police arrested a 17-year-old high school student, in Saitama Prefecture near Tokyo, on suspicion of attempted murder, after a 60-year-old teacher was stabbed yesterday.

The knife-wielding teenager broke into a junior high school in Toda, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, early yesterday afternoon and stabbed the male teacher, who tried to restrain him, local police said.

The intruder was subdued by other teachers at the scene, and was handed over to police officers, who had rushed to the site, according to police.

The teacher, who sustained several wounds on the upper part of his body, was conscious while being taken to the hospital, and the injuries were not life-threatening, according to the city’s board of education.

The suspect has admitted to slashing the teacher with a knife, and told the police that he wanted to kill someone and did not care who the victim is.

Police are investigating the suspect’s identity and motive.– NNN-NHK
