KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Feb 27 (NNN-ANA) – The Afghan police have rescued a kidnapped child, in Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province and arrested an alleged kidnapper, provincial police spokesman, Jumaudin Khaksari said, yesterday.
Following search operations, the three-year-old boy was rescued from the kidnappers’ custody, on Saturday evening, and police handed the child over to his family, Khaksari told reporters.
Police have also detained a man involved in the kidnapping of the boy, the spokesman added.
In a similar operation, the police released a child from kidnappers’ clutch, in the neighbouring Balkh provincial capital, Mazar-i-Sharif, days ago.
Criminal gangs often attempt to kidnap children of well-off families for ransom, in the war-torn and impoverished Afghanistan.– NNN-ANA
