Iranian Sports Minister Suffers Brain Haemorrhage In Chopper Crash: Media

TEHRAN, Feb 25 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Sports Minister, Hamid Sajjadi, suffered a brain haemorrhage and is slightly unconscious, after a helicopter crash on Thursday.

The crash, which took place in the south-eastern city of Baft, when the helicopter was landing, killed a senior adviser to Sajjadi.

Since Sajjadi’s haemorrhage is not progressive, he does not need surgery, Mohammad Saberi, the head of the emergency organisation of the south-eastern Iranian province of Kerman, was quoted as saying.

Director General of Sports and Youths Organisation of Kerman Province, Meysam Parizi, who was aboard the chopper, is also unconscious, as his broken ribs pierced his lungs, he added.

Three of the 18 people wounded in the crash have been released from hospital, while the rest are recovering, according to Sajjadi.

An investigation into the cause of the incident would be carried out by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, which operated the helicopter, the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation’s office for safety investigation, Hassan Rezaeifar, said.– NNN-IRNA
