Mongolia To Celebrate Spring Golden Eagle Festival

ULAN BATOR, Feb 25 (NNN-XINHUA) – Mongolia will celebrate the Spring Golden Eagle Festival on Mar 4-5, near the capital city of Ulan Bator, to help revive the pandemic-hit tourism industry, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism said yesterday.

Celebrations are expected to feature such activities as contests between eagle hunters and a concert of Kazakh folk music and dance.

Mongolia is home to the thousand-year-old tradition of hunting with trained Golden Eagles, which has been passed down through generations among Kazakh nomads, who mainly live in the western part of the country.

The Golden Eagle Festival is held twice a year in Mongolia – once in spring and once in autumn.

The country has declared 2023-2025 as “Years to Visit Mongolia” to boost tourism, and the eagle festival is one of the more than 90 events planned for this year.– NNN-XINHUA
