TASHKENT, Feb 18 (NNN-UzA) – Uzbekistan plans to commission solar and wind power plants, with a total capacity of 4,300 megawatts by year’s end, a presidential decree released yesterday, said.
It further said, the Uzbek government will allocate 15.4 billion U.S. dollars to renewable energy source projects, which include the funds for investors, within the framework of public-private partnership projects.
If implemented, the projects would save up to 4.8 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually, for the country.
The document also envisages incentives for foreign partners, domestic entities and individual households, to use renewable energy sources and install solar panels to generate electricity. They can sell the surplus energy to the state at a fixed price, or at a higher price to private consumers, upon mutual agreement.– NNN-UzA
