RIYADH, Feb 16 (NNN-SPA) – The second edition of the World Defence Show, is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Feb 4-8 next year, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), announced.

The show will feature the most advanced defence technologies.

“The exhibition will be a strategic means of supporting the endeavours of our dear country, to achieve our localisation goals,” GAMI Governor, Ahmad bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, was quoted as saying. He was referring to Saudi Arabia’s plans to localise more than 50 percent of its military spending by 2030.

The show “will also provide an ideal environment to exchange knowledge on successful international and local experiences, while introducing the latest technologies and innovations used in the field,” he was quoted as saying.

“One further key aim of the event will be to strengthen the Kingdom’s international partnerships, and create major new investment opportunities,” he noted.

Approximately 7.92 billion U.S. dollars’ worth of contracts were signed during the first edition of the show, which was held in Mar last year, according to the report.

A total of 600 exhibitors and more than 100 military delegations from 85 countries participated in the show last year, which was visited by more than 65,000 people.– NNN-SPA
