14-Year-Old Died, Lady Driver Charged After Fatal Bus Crash In Sydney

SYDNEY, Feb 16 (NNN-AAP) – The police force in Australian state of New South Wales (NSW), announced today that, a woman has been charged, after a fatal bus crash in Sydney’s south-west claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy.

The police said in a statement that, emergency services were called to the Cobbitty Road, in Cobbitty, just before 3:00 p.m. local time yesterday and found a 14-year-old boy critically injured.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before taking him to Liverpool Hospital, but he died a short time later.

The bus driver, a 54-year-old woman, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing, and was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. local time yesterday.

According to NSW Police Force, the driver was charged with dangerous driving, occasioning in death, driving in a dangerous manner, and negligent driving.

She was refused bail to appear at a local court and her license was also suspended.

This morning, David Nockles, headmaster of Macarthur Anglican School, confirmed the tragic death of the Year-9 student, following the accident that occurred at the front of the school.

“At present, all that can be confirmed is that a public transport bus lost control, as it moved away from the bus bays, mounting the kerb,” said Nockles.

The headmaster expressed condolence to the bereaved families, including the victim’s brother in Year 11, adding that, care and counselling services will continue to be available to students and staff.– NNN-AAP
