SEOUL, Feb 15 (NNN-YONHAP) – The number of employed people in South Korea grew 411,000 in Jan, from a year earlier, statistical office data showed today.
The year-over-year employment growth has been on the decline for the eighth straight month, sliding from 935,000 in May last year, to 826,000 in Jul, 707,000 in Sept, 626,000 in Nov, and 509,000 in Dec.
The Jan figure was the lowest increase in 22 months since Mar, 2021, according to Statistics Korea.
Employment rate for those aged 15 or over, rose 0.7 percentage points over the year to 60.3 percent last month.
The number of those unemployed was 1,024,000 in Jan, down 119,000 from a year earlier. Jobless rate slipped 0.5 percentage points to 3.6 percent.– NNN-YONHAP
