Millions Of Iranians Marked Islamic Revolution Victory Through Nationwide Rallies

TEHRAN, Feb 12 (NNN-TASNIM) – Millions of people across Iran took to the streets yesterday, to mark the 44th anniversary of the victory of the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The rallies were held in the capital, Tehran, as well as, 1,400 Iranian cities and 38,000 villages, the report said.

Along the rallies’ routes, people waved Iran’s flags, and carried photos of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini, and late Iranian commander, Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the U.S. in 2020, in Iraq’s Baghdad.

The people also chanted slogans in support of the country and condemnation of the United States and Israel, the report said.

Many top Iranian officials also took part in the rallies, including President, Ebrahim Raisi, Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, as well as, cabinet ministers.

The country’s achievements in various fields were put on display along the roads leading to the iconic Azadi Square, including those in the military and defence sector, such as Emad ballistic missile, Shahed-136 unmanned aerial vehicle and Sejjil missile.

In an address to a large gathering at Azadi Square, Raisi said, Iran’s positive trade balance with continued oil production and exports, has proven the failure of the U.S. sanctions.

Despite the sanctions and threats, Iran is producing oil and continuing its oil and non-oil exports, has achieved growth, and is making progress in equipment production, Raisi added.

The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, toppled the U.S.-backed Shah regime of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and brought the country under the leadership of Khomeini, an event seen as a turning point in Iran’s history.

Annually, Iranians mark the occasion through holding 10-day celebrations, which end on Feb 11, across the country.– NNN-TASNIM
