President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki
NAIROBI, Feb 9 (NNN-KBC) — President of the State of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki has arrived in Kenya for a two day official visit.
During President Afwerki’s two-day visit, he is expected to meet his host President William Ruto for bilateral talks between the two countries.
Afwerki and Ruto will conduct discussions focusing on bilateral relations as well as regional developments.
In December 2022, Ruto visited Eritrea officially to discuss trade and issues of regional security.
Ruto’s assurances led to the gradual withdrawal of Eritrean troops from Tigray, an important step in influencing the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) rebels to begin surrendering their weapons.
Afwerki had last visited Kenya officially on Dec 15, 2018 during the tenure of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, although he often makes private trips to Kenya. — NNN-KBC
