Indian Gov’t Says Aviation Watchdog Has No Plan To Limit Serving Liquor On Flights

NEW DELHI, Feb 7 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government said that, the country’s civil aviation watchdog, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has no plan to limit serving liquor on flights, in light of the recent incidents of unruly behaviour of drunk passengers onboard.

The information was given by federal junior minister of civil aviation, V K Singh, yesterday, in the upper house of the Indian parliament (locally called Rajya Sabha).

“Presently, there is no such proposal under consideration in DGCA,” Singh said, in his reply to a question about whether the DGCA is considering to limit the serving of liquor on flights, due to the misbehaviour of drunk flyers.

Singh also said that, last year 63 passengers had been placed in “No Fly List” as recommended by the airline’s internal committee.

“The majority of passengers placed in ‘No Fly List’ were for violation related to not wearing mask or not obeying the instructions of crew members,” Singh added.– NNN-PTI
