Indian Gov’t Approved 44 Schools For Drone Training Across Country

NEW DELHI, Feb 7 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government said yesterday, the country’s civil aviation watchdog, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has approved 44 training schools, to provide drone training and skilling across the country.

The information was presented by federal junior minister for civil aviation, V K Singh, in the upper house of the Indian parliament (locally called Rajya Sabha).

“The DGCA approves drone training schools as per the Drone Rules 2021. Under these Rules, currently, 44 drone training schools have been approved, for providing drone training/skilling across the country. These training schools have certified 2,521 drone pilots,” Singh stated.

Singh said the drone industry in the country was nascent at this stage, and no data on job creation has been collected.

“Various government and private sector organisations are procuring drone and drone services on a large scale, with no such reported challenges in procurement,” he said.

So far, a total of 56 applications for financial assistance, under the Production Linked Incentive for Drones and Drone Components have been received. “The applications are at the examination stage,” the minister said.– NNN-PTI
