NEW DELHI, Feb 5 (NNN-PTI) – At least four women died and eight others were injured in a stampede, in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu yesterday, at a festival gathering, local police said.
The incident occurred at the state’s Tirupathur district. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital.
Around 600 to 700 people gathered at the spot, expecting distributed clothes, when the stampede occurred, the district police said.
According to the police, no prior permission was obtained from the district administration for the holding of the congregation.– NNN-PTI
