ISLAMABAD, Feb 5 (NNN-APP) – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of Pakistan, launched a mobile application for foreign currency declaration of international travellers, the board said.
“The travellers can benefit from the PassTrack APP to keep record of the currency limits and promote culture of compliance for the country’s progress,” the FBR said, in a statement.
The application facilitates international passengers departing or arriving in Pakistan, to declare carrying cash electronically through its user-friendly interface, which enables passengers to declare currency even before reaching the airport.
As per the laws of the State Bank of Pakistan, it is mandatory for international air passengers to file foreign currency declarations with customs, so the new application will facilitate the passengers by saving them time.
The FBR earlier fixed the limit of 5,000 U.S. dollars per visit, for all passengers 18 years old and above travelling abroad.
The board also capped the annual limit of foreign currency for outbound passengers of the above age group to 30,000 U.S. dollars or equivalent foreign currency.
The limit for people below 18 years old has been fixed at 2,500 U.S. dollars per visit and 15,000 or equivalent foreign currency annually, according to the FBR.
The limit has been further reduced for travellers to Afghanistan, who can carry 1,000 U.S. dollars or equivalent foreign currency for one-time travel, and 6,000 U.S. dollars annually.
Meanwhile, the local currency limit for outbound passengers has been capped at 10,000 rupees (about 37 U.S. dollars), according to the FBR.– NNN-APP
