NEW DELHI, Jan 21 (NNN-PTI) – India has produced over 500 million metric tonnes of sugarcane in the sugar season of 2021-2022, officials said yesterday.
According to the federal ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, about 357.4 million metric tonnes of sugarcane were crushed to around 39.4 million metric tonnes of sugar during the season.
India’s sugar sector is self-sufficient, with no subsidy from the government, officials said.– NNN-PTI
