LIMA, Jan 18 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte offers the government “hands and hearts to those who take to the streets,” in order to listen to the demands they issue peacefully.
Participating in the ceremony marking the opening of the Constitutional Court (TC) jurisdictional year, she reiterated that her administration promotes peace, dialogue, unity, stability, progress, and well-being.
The Head of State indicated that she is waiting at the Government Palace for the protesters from various Peruvian towns in order to be able to dialogue about social agendas.
She emphasized that political issues, which are part of the demands of some of these sectors, “are unattainable by the Executive Branch.”
“Once again, we extend our hands and hearts to our fellow citizens who take to the streets to peacefully express their demands,” said Boluarte, who affirmed that “the viability and future of our nation is currently at stake.“
The President said she is aware that “the task has not been fully accomplished” by the government. Thus, “there are many Peruvians who await answers and who seek to have their rights guaranteed in the face of injustices and inequalities.“
The Head of State reiterated that, thinking about it, her administration has been implementing measures for the development of infrastructure, food, and poverty-fighting projects.
“We hope to articulate these measures with regional and local authorities,” she expressed.
The President reiterated her wish to engage in direct dialogue with the sectors that have been mobilizing.
“Let us put down these acts of violence which do not bring anything positive to the homeland; we don’t want any more blood,” she emphasized.
“I want to reach out to Puno. Mr. Governor, I extend my hand and my heart to you,” said Boluarte, referring to Richard Hancco —an official who has spoken out against her.
Regarding the protest marches which have been announced for Lima, the Head of State said they must take place in peace and calm.
On the other hand, the top official expressed her appreciation for the Constitutional Court’s (TC) announcement to reject the coup d’état that was intended to be perpetrated on Dec 7.
She also thanked the aforementioned institution for promoting the validity of laws in favor of pregnant women and those who cannot count on attention in terms of justice services.
As is known, Boluarte officially became President of the Republic on Dec 7, 2022, after ex-President Pedro Castillo was constitutionally impeached and removed from office by Parliament. — NNN-ANDINA
