TUNIS, Jan 17 (NNN-Xinhua) — The electoral campaign for the second round of Tunisia’s legislative elections kicked off on Monday and will continue until Jan 27.
Farouk Bouaskar, president of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), called on all candidates to stay away from any speech of hatred and violence, and concentrate on their electoral program.
Bouaskar stressed the importance of respecting the rules of competition so that the second round of the electoral campaign will take place in the best conditions.
According to the ISIE, the second round of the legislative elections will be limited to the remaining 131 constituencies, since only 21 candidates secured victory in the first round, which took place on Dec 17, 2022, resulting in a participation rate of 11.22 percent. — NNN-XINHUA
