NEW DELHI, Jan 17 (NNN-PTI) – India’s overall exports (Merchandise & Services combined) in Dec, 2022, declined by 5.25 percent, year on year, to 61.82 billion U.S. dollars, showed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s data, yesterday.
The overall imports also declined to 73.80 billion dollars in Dec, 2022, compared with 75.27 billion dollars in Dec, 2021.
According to the data, the trade deficit swelled from 10.02 billion dollars in Dec, 2021, to 11.98 billion dollars in Dec, 2022.
It also showed that, the overall exports during the first nine months (Apr-Dec, 2022) of the current Financial Year (Apr 2022-Mar 2023), increased to 568.57 billion dollars from 489.69 billion dollars, during the same period of the previous financial year.
Overall, imports during Apr-Dec, 2022, rose to 686.70 billion dollars, from 546.95 billion dollars in Apr-Dec, 2021.
During these nine months, India’s trade deficit more than doubled from 57.26 billion dollars to 118.12 billion dollars, compared with the nine months of the previous financial year, added the data.
Exports of electronic goods during Apr-Dec, 2022, were recorded at 16.67 billion dollars, registering a year-on-year growth of 51.56 percent. Exports of petroleum products in the same period was 70.28 billion dollars, registering a year-on-year growth of 52.15 percent.– NNN-PTI
