Iranian, Syrian FMs Called For Signing Cooperation Document

TEHRAN, Jan 16 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iranian and Syrian foreign ministers, highlighted the necessity of signing a comprehensive document, for long-term cooperation between their countries.

Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, met his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, on Saturday in Damascus, where they discussed the issue and exchanged views on bilateral and regional developments.

Finalising and signing the comprehensive cooperation document can act as a roadmap for enhancing the two countries’ long-term cooperation in different areas, Amir-Abdollahian said at the meeting, calling for more joint efforts to boost bilateral trade and remove obstacles.

Mekdad, for his part, said, his ministry would do its best to help achieve the targets, set by the two countries’ leaders. He said, through cooperation with related parties, including the Iranian Foreign Ministry, necessary documents will be prepared for improving bilateral relations.

They also discussed details of an imminent visit by Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, to Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Saturday morning. During the day, he held meetings with senior Syrian officials, including President Bashar al-Assad.– NNN-TASNIM
