SAN SALVADOR, Jan 15 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — El Salvador maintains its commitment to confront local and international drug trafficking, sources of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) said.

As a result of the official policy to combat the situation, several drug caches were destroyed in the municipalities of San Salvador, Santa Ana and Sonsonate, which the authorities valued at 157 thousand dollars.

Technicians from the Anti-Narcotics Division of the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) verified the destruction of the drugs on Thursday.

The incinerated product consisted of 111,304.68 grams of marijuana, 1,174.55 grams of cocaine and 33,397 grams of methamphetamines.

During the year 2022, the authorities seized close to 13 tons of different drugs valued at more than 300 million dollars to reach a total of close to 28 tons in recent years.

In operations against international drug trafficking, Salvadoran naval forces also participated in several combined operations with other countries to capture important cocaine shipments. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
