SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, April 17 (NNN-PTI) – A grenade explosion took place Tuesday, outside the residential house of a National Conference (NC) leader, in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
No loss of life or injury to anyone was caused in the explosion.
The grenade explosion took place in Tral town of Pulwama district, about 46 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
“Unknown persons, suspected to be militants, today (yesterday), threw a grenade towards the house of NC leader, Mohammed Ashraf Bhat, here,” a police official, posted in Tral said. “The grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside without causing any damage.”
According to locals, the grenade attack was carried out at a time when party workers had assembled inside Bhat’s house, to conduct an election meeting.
Following the attack, contingents of police and paramilitary rushed to the spot, to carry out searches to nab the attackers.
So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
