Venezuelan parliament ratifies Jorge Rodríguez as its president

CARACAS, Jan 6 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The National Assembly of Venezuela ratified Jorge Rodriguez by majority vote in its first session of the year as its president and Pedro Infante, first vice president, both representatives of the Homeland Bloc.    

Deputy Diosdado Cabello made the ruling party’s proposal, which also included young América Pérez, as second vice president, who also achieved evident majority support from the 277 parliamentarians present in the legislative chamber.

Prior to the start of the inaugural meeting, the previous Board of Directors and other deputies laid a wreath at the monument erected to El Libertador Simón Bolívar, in the park that bears his name, in Caracas.

When opening the first ordinary meeting of 2023, Rodríguez, who served as debate director, pointed out that the installation of this parliament implies the strengthening of the democratic institution of Venezuela and the recovery of an institution that the people deserve.

By making his proposals, the head of the Bloque de la Patria, Cabello meant the extraordinary execution based on the peace and tranquility of the country of the National Assembly (AN) in recent years.

He recognized the work of the re-elected president for his effort, dedication, patience, tolerance in the exercise of this position, for having been at the forefront of the national dialogue and for recovering the historical value lost five years ago of parliament.

This AN led the Legislative Branch to national and international recognition that some tried to deny it, and today it is a constituted power represented by these deputies, and there is no other space, there those who like to live on fantasy and dreams, said the also political leader .

On behalf of the opposition bench, deputy Luis Augusto Romero presented an alternative to the Board of Directors of the Assembly and pointed out that this “democratic opposition” two years ago assumed the great responsibility of deactivating the device of violence mounted against the country.

This is an opposition that does not receive orders from any capital in the world, from any foreign interest, he stressed.

In his concluding speech, Rodríguez recalled the violence, hatred and aggressive actions that they tried to impose on the people of Venezuela, as well as the moral, ethical and human devastation of those who twisted the sacred mission of defending the people in this parliament. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
