Myanmar Exported Over One Million Tonnes Of Rice In Nine  Months

YANGON, Jan 4 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar exported over one million tonnes of rice, in the first nine months of fiscal year 2022-23, starting in Apr, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), yesterday.

During the cited period, the country exported 136,206 tonnes of rice in Oct, and 179,853 tonnes in Nov, and 148,127 tonnes in Dec, according to the official data.

During the nine months, the country exported more than 630,915 tonnes of broken rice, the data showed.

The country exported 228,445 tonnes of rice and broken rice in Dec, compared to 301,033.91 tonnes, a year earlier.

Myanmar exported the rice to China, Japan, European Union countries, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, African countries and Middle East countries, according to the MRF.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Myanmar has shipped most of its rice and broken rice via sea routes.

In Myanmar, rice is the most cultivated crop followed by beans and pulses.– NNN-MNA
