Peru: PM and FA Min to attend Lula’s presidential swearing-in ceremony in Brazil

LIMA, Dec 31 (NNN-ANDINA) — Prime Minister Alberto Otarola and Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi will travel to Brazil to attend the inauguration ceremony of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as President of the neighboring country.

According to two supreme resolutions published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Friday, both authorities will be abroad from Dec 31, 2022, to Jan 2, 2023.

In the case of Prime Minister Otarola, his office will be entrusted to Economy and Finance Minister Alex Contreras during the Cabinet chief’s absence.

During the same period, the office of Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi will be entrusted to Justice and Human Rights Minister Jose Tello, the second resolution indicated.

Both documents were signed by Pres Dina Boluarte and Prime Minister Alberto Otarola.

On Dec 28, Justice Minister Jose Tello announced that Boluarte would not travel to Brazil for the presidential inauguration of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Said event will be held in the city of Brasilia on Jan 1. — NNN-ANDINA
